Accommodation options
ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORTS :
There are two hotels in Jibacoa offering the All-Inclusive plan (meals, drinks, snacks, activities, water sports, etc.). They are next to each other and directly on the beach called Playa Arroyo Berjemo.
• Hotel Memories Jibacoa 4* (formerly Breezes Jibacoa), an adult-only hotel (16+). The property belongs to the Cuban group Cubanacan and the hotel is managed by the Canadian hotel chain Blue Diamond (part of the Sunwing Group).
• Hotel Starfish Jibacoa 3* (formerly but still known as Villa Tropico). This is an hotel for everyone. It belongs to the Cuban group Gran Caribe which also manages it.
OTHER HOTELS :
Hotel Villa Loma 2* consists of 14 independent houses, each having from 1 to 5 bedrooms. It’s administrated by the Cuban hotel group Islazul. This hotel is usually booked with either a MAP meal plan (2 meals per day,no drinks included), or EP plan (no meals or drinks).
CAMPISMO (campground):
These are modest establishments where you can rent a cabin (for 2 to 8 people) and enjoy the on-site services: pool, beach, playground and restaurant. The Campismo Los Cocos can accommodate foreigners and is regarded as one of the best in Cuba. Other campismos found in the Jibacoa area are: Campismo Las Caletas, Campiso El Abra, Campismo La Laguna, Campismo Playa Amarilla et Campismo Penas Blancas. You can also visit a campismo just for the day, it's a nice opportunity to meet with the locals and enjoy leisure time as Cubans do!
CASA PARTICULAR (private homestay) :
Several guest houses are also found in the area, they are called "Casa Particular". This is an inexpensive private accommodation similar to a Bed & Breakfast (B&B), and usually rented for short stays. It can be a room inside a home (usually with a private bathroom), a mini-apartment, or a studio. You can also find full-apartments, villas and houses for long-term vacation rental.
IMPORTANT to know : The Jibacoa hotels are not located on the Varadero’s peninsula! In the reservation systems they are often listed among the hotels in Varadero, but Jibacoa is about one hour west of the Varadero airport (towards Havana), while Varadero is about 30 minutes east of the Varadero airport. Vacation packages to Jibacoa usually include a flight to Varadero, as it is the closest international airport to Jibacoa.
