Varadero
The largest and most popular beach-resort in Cuba, the Peninsula of Varadero, is about 85 km (53 mi) east from Jibacoa, driving time is approximately one and a half hour. Its 21-km (13-miles) pristine white sand beach is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in the world.
To get there from the Jibacoa resort, you can hire an official government-owned taxi or a private taxi. Many private taxis are American Classic 50’s cars (locally called Maquina or Yank Tank). The typical price of a taxi ride to and from Varadero is about 90-100 USD (for the taxi, not per person). The driver can wait for you while you enjoy the beach and other Varadero attractions. An organized tour (by bus with a official guide) is also available for about 25 USD per person.
